Introducing the “Tiratana” ND Q SWITCHED YAG LASER With new advances in Q-switched laser technology, tattoo removal can be achieved with minimal risk of scarring and permanent pigmentary alteration. There are ve types of tattoos: amateur, professional, cosmetic, medicinal, and traumatic. Amateur tattoos require less treatment sessions than professional multicolored tattoos. Other factors to consider when evaluating tattoos for removal are: location, age and the skin type of the patient. The Q-switched Nd:YAG laser has a uence of 532 nm and 1064 nm. The 532 nm is used for red, pink and orange pigments and the 1064nm is used for darker pigments: black, blue, purple etc.

How does it work ?

The Laser radiates the light of speci c wavelengths in a high peak, ultra-short nanosecond energy pulse. The light penetrates the tissue and is absorbed by the pigment and results in an instantaneous blast. The pigment particles are shattered into fragments, parts of them will be bounced out of the skin and the other parts will be exploded into tiny particles that can be engulfed by phagocytes and then eliminated by the lymphatic system over time. Each treatment is to be retreated at least 8-10 weeks apart to allow the ink to leave the system.

How many treatments do you need ?

On average, professional tattoos need 6 to 15 treatments, while amateur tattoos need four to ve treatments. The number of treatments depends on the size of the tattoo, the amount and type of ink used, the depth of the ink in the skin and the age of the tattoo. The location of the tattoo will also a ect the clearance rate.

What type of post-treatment care is necessary ?

An ointment and dressing will be applied immediately after treatment and the area must be kept clean. Follow the post treatment instructions provided to you. You can take a shower the next day, although the treated area should never be scrubbed. If a scab forms it is important that you do not pick or scratch it.
